Spring Gardening Tips

A huge part of gourmet cooking is fine, fresh, ingredients. One of the best ways to get the best ingredients is to have your own kitchen herb garden.

If you have room a full garden in the yard is also essential and I will talk more about that later. Let’s start in the herb garden.

A good herb garden is primarily comprised of some small pots or or planters that have all the essential herbs that you can keep there at all times or harvest and dry for later use.

I like to grow the following in my kitchen;

  • Rosemary
  • Oregano
  • Parsley
  • Tyme
  • Sage

If you have more space obviously you can start to grow various varieties of things and some fruit bearing plants also work well in the house like tomatoes and beans (good advice for those with a short growing season in northern climates).

The other thing you will want to do to get ready for Spring is to get your kitchen in order for summer and summer parties and such.

Spring Gardening Tips

We’ve been cooking soups, stews, and baked goods all winter, but now its time to get ready for salads, fresh chicken and fish dishes and other fine foods that welcome in spring and warmer weather.

Now is a great time to find things like basting brushes, spring time dish wear and bright colored serving wear and put away all that dark stuff from the winter.

That stuff always seems to get hidden in my house during the winter and I can’t ever seem to find it so I like to rediscover it early.

Enjoy gardening and re-tooling the house for spring.

Remember, good food, good friends, and good conversation.
