List of Journals Indexed for MEDLINE
MEDLINE is an online bibliographic index of scholarly journals and periodicals from the United States National Library of Medicine (NLM). A component of PubMed, the general NLM index, the 5,490 journals listed on MEDLINE are concerned mainly with life sciences, especially biomedicine and health.
A search on MEDLINE gives a bibliographic citation (e.g. authors, title, source) and, in many cases, an abstract of the article. A growing number of MEDLINE citations also feature free digital copies of the full text of articles.
Academic Medicine, which has been in publication since 1989, is the official journal of the Association of American Medical Colleges. Published by Lippincott, Williams & Wilkins, it features articles and conference talks on various topics that fall under the general category of medical education. It is listed in MEDLINE under core clinical journals.
A leading publication in its field, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), which first saw publication in 1960, falls under the core clinical journals listing in MEDLINE. A weekly publication with its own website, JAMA features articles on a wide range of topics dealing with medical research, including clinical trials, health care and health policy.
American College of Surgeons
The Journal of the American College of Surgeons, which began in 1994, is indexed in MEDLINE under core clinical journals; volumes from 2002 to the present include a supplement under the title “Surgical forum,” which used to be issued separately. Articles in the journal cover various topics. Aside from general surgery, pieces on gynecology and obstetrics are commonly featured.
Journal of Professional Nursing
The Journal of Professional Nursing is the official scientific journal of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. Begun in 1985 and published by W.B. Saunders, the journal is indexed in MEDLINE under the general category of nursing.
AIP Conference Proceedings

Conference Proceedings of the America Institute of Physics have been published by the AIP since 1970 and feature many articles on topics related to the use of physics in biomedicine, such as bio-imaging.
