How to Deal With Being Jittery
People can become jittery for various reasons. Some common reasons include anxiety, chronic worry or too much caffeine. No matter what the reason, feeling jittery is usually an unpleasant experience that taxes the mind and body.
Fortunately, it’s possible to deal with being jittery when implementing a few techniques and exercises. Following five guidelines should help most people get over the jitters and obtain a better quality of life.

1. Take a few deep breaths when you start feeling stressed and jittery.
Breathe in slowly through your nose and then let the air out through your mouth. Performing three to five of these deep breaths should help to calm your nervous system and alleviate the jitters.
2. Exercise on a routine basis.
Many times feeling jittery is the result of restless energy that the mind and body accumulate. Fortunately, exercising three or four times a week can expel the majority of that energy and improve your physical and mental health. For most people, a 30-minute exercise session each time is ideal. Some ideas include jogging, hiking and weight lifting.
3. Avoid substances that induce jitteriness.
This means staying away from anything with significant amounts of caffeine in it. Soda and energy drinks are notoriously bad for being filled with caffeine and should be avoided. Also abstaining or reducing alcohol consumption is also beneficial because it can upset the nervous system.
4. Spend some time alone each day to relax.
Try to devote at least 30 minutes of every day to just sit back and contemplate the day. Doing so will allow your mind and body to take a break and just rest. As a result, the jitters and overall anxiety level should be reduced.
5. Practice meditation in order to clear your mind and reduce jittery feelings.
This can be done by sitting down in a quiet place, closing your eyes and focusing on your breathing. As you concentrate only on your breathing, your mind will become still and anxious thoughts should dissipate.
